WSNTA – Day Trips Event

Escape into the peaceful surroundings of this lovely Cotswold manor, virtually unchanged for 400 years, you will feel that you are in the relaxed atmosphere of a family house. This is 'Trenwith', the Poldark family pile. The house has also featured in Dracula, The House of Elliott, Tess of the D'Urbervilles, Wolf Hall, Lark Rise to Candleford and many more film and television productions. At present they are filming a TV adaption of Jilly Cooper's book “Riders”. Who knows, they might even be filming when we visit. We will arrive in time to sit down for lunch, following which we will have a guided tour of the house and a talk detailing its history and that of the two families who have lived there since the reign of Elizabeth I. The tour and talk will hopefully be given by a member of the Lowsley-Williams family who have lived there since 1896. Weather permitting there should be time to see the grounds at our leisure.
