This rambling granite and skate-stone home, high above the River Tamar was built by the Edgcumbes and remained in their family for nearly 600 years.The hall with its ancient timber roof and displays of weaponry and the warren of tapestry-clad rooms beyond have changed little Tudor times. The 12-acre garden features historic daffodils, terraces, ponds and orchards with 150 local apple veraities. The valley garden with medieval stewpond and dovecote leads to Cotehele Quay - thriving in Victorian times where you will find the 1899 Tamar sailing barge Shamrock, lime kilns and Discovery Centre. It is a steep walk down to the Quay. 

For lunch the Barn Cafe ( by the house ) serves lunches, light bites, cakes and hot and cold drinks. The Edgcumbe ( at Cotehele Quay ) serves hot and cold drinks, light bites and cakes.
