The exact initial date when the building in Hillcommon near Taunton first operated as a pub is not precisely documented in public records, though it has long served as a traditional local watering hole and was known as The Royal Oak before spending 20 years trading as The Orchard Inn from in 2023 it returned to it's original roots and name.
